Muhammad Jamil

Head of Chambers


Mr. Jamil is the Head of Chambers at JLA and has been a practicing Advocate of the High Courts of Pakistan. He read law and completed his LL.B. (Legum Baccalaureus) from S.M. Law College at Karachi – Pakistan in the year 1991 and commenced his legal practice in 1992 as an Associate Lawyer at the Law Office of Mr. M. Ilyas Khan, a prominent and highly respected Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and former President, Sindh High Court Bar Association, where he was involved in a broad range of litigation matters. There he closely assisted Mr. Khan in numerous criminal and constitutional matters, whilst also working independently on several cases.

During his tenure with Mr. Khan, he appeared and assisted in a range of high-profile criminal cases both on behalf of the State and also defending the accused’ including but not limited to the Nawaz Sharif Trial (1999), the Mir Murtaza Trial, Tribunals constituted on the complaints of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the Shah Bandar case, etc.

Mr. Jamil also has the honour of carrying out the necessary research pertaining to different laws and historical events of Pakistan, which Mr. Ilyas Khan subsequently incorporated in many of the books that he authored.

Since the inception of JLA, Mr. Jamil has contested and is still actively involved in various noteworthy white-collar crimes and homicide cases including the Benazir Housing Cell Case, the Rainee Canal Scandal, the Pakistan Steel Mills Cases, the Trade Development Authority Pakistan (TDAP) Scandal, Chaudhry Aslam Attack Case of 2006 etc.

Building on his vast experience in Criminal and Constitutional Litigation, Mr. Jamil further developed additional experience in other areas of litigation such as Company & Commercial Law, Copyright Law and Family Law over the years.

All this time, many of the litigation matters handled by him have also been reported in the Law Journals of Pakistan.

Having worked closely with a highly prominent lawyer of Pakistan as well as having pursued the profession as an experienced independent litigator, Mr. Jamil currently handles litigation and dispute resolution arising from Corporate & White-Collar crimes (for e.g. offences pertaining to NAB, FIA) , General Criminal cases including Homicide, Robbery, Anti-Terrorism, Cybercrimes, Constitutional matters, Contractual disputes, Company & Commercial matters, Copyright infringements, General Civil matters, Commercial Banking (Defaults & Recovery), Immigration & NADRA, Narcotics, Customs & Anti-Smuggling cases, Family disputes, Drug Cases; as well as certain Consumer and Environmental Issues.

He is exclusively responsible for all litigation matters of the firm and regularly appears and supervises the cases pending adjudication before the High Courts and the different District Courts of Pakistan including the NAB Courts, Anti-Corruption Courts, Anti-Terrorism Courts, Customs Court, Offence in Respect of Banks Courts, Drug Courts, etc.

Mr. Jamil has also been providing legal training at his firm to fresh law graduates who are in their early years of practice, nurturing them to become outstanding litigators while emphasizing on professionalism and integrity.
